Little do they know that this absence will set in motion a chain of events that will grip the entire city.

The school is strategically located in front of a property owned by Rohit Mirchandani, Naina’s fiancé, where Rohit resides. It’s a tranquil morning as parents drop off their children, blissfully unaware of the storm that is about to engulf their lives. Naina, teetering on the edge of sanity, approaches one of the parents, asking for a favor – a cake for her daughter Niharika’s upcoming birthday. Desperation drives her to request that their driver delivers the cake to the school.

As the parents bid farewell and leave Naina alone with the children and the school helper, Savitri, she snaps. In a shocking twist, Naina dials the local police station, uttering words that send shivers down the spines of all who hear her – she claims that she is holding 16 children hostage. Panic erupts as the authorities scramble to discern whether this is a genuine threat or a cruel hoax.

Handling the situation is ACP Catherine Alvarez, portrayed by the illustrious Dimple Kapadia. However, Naina makes it unequivocally clear that she will only negotiate with one officer – Javed Khan, portrayed by the seasoned Atul Kulkarni. Javed is swiftly brought to the scene, and the tense standoff between Naina and the police begins. Naina’s chilling demands are clear – she will release one child for every demand that Javed fulfills.

Her initial demand is nothing short of staggering – an astonishing transfer of ₹5 crore to her bank account. ACP Catherine Alvarez, who shares a history with Javed, complicates matters with her interference and clashes of personality.

Through a meticulous background check, Catherine discovers that Naina has been on antidepressants and has been seeing a psychologist since she was merely 16 years old. The reason behind Naina’s anguish is unveiled – she was a victim of a brutal rape at the tender age of 16, and shockingly, the very officers now negotiating with her, Javed and Catherine, were the ones who callously brushed aside her case in pursuit of a high-profile investigation.

Naina’s mother, who had spent years pleading for justice, had been resigned to the apathy of the police force. This revelation plunges the situation into an abyss of emotional complexity, leaving viewers to grapple with the weight of whether justice can ever truly be served in such a fraught standoff.

As Naina’s demands continue to escalate, she insists on speaking directly to Prime Minister Maya Rajguru, portrayed by Neha Dhupia. The Prime Minister consents to a phone call, but Naina pushes for a face-to-face meeting. In their poignant conversation, Naina questions the glaring absence of protection for adult survivors of sexual offenses, invoking the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act, which was enacted in 2012 to safeguard children under 18.

Despite the Prime Minister’s assurances that legislative changes necessitate time, Naina’s rapists are eventually located and imprisoned. However, Naina drops a seismic revelation – she divulges that the child she had purportedly killed is, in fact, alive. The tension heightens as the police race against time to locate Charan Kumar, the missing family driver who had brought Niharika’s birthday cake and was also one of Naina’s assailants.

In a heart-wrenching and gut-churning moment, Naina shoots Charan, just as the commandos prepare to storm the school. With her demands met and her message delivered, Naina is arrested. But her story doesn’t conclude there. The film’s climax features Prime Minister Maya Rajguru initiating a discourse about capital punishment in parliament, and in the final scene, we see Naina, now imprisoned, smiling as she reads a newspaper.
