Mahesh Deshmukh (Rajat Kapoor), consumed by grief and a need for closure, approaches Vijay to reveal his son’s whereabouts. The disappearance of Mahesh’s son, Sam (the pivotal character in the first film), had led to a series of events that tested the Salgaonkar family’s resilience and intelligence.

Simultaneously, David Braganza (played by Akshaye Khanna), who was arrested in connection with the murder in the first film, is released from jail and struggles to rebuild his life. David tips off Inspector-General of Police Tarun Ahlawat (Akshaye Khanna), a close friend and colleague of Meera Deshmukh (Tabu), about Vijay’s potential guilt. In desperation, Vijay falsely confesses to Sam’s murder to protect his family, leading to his arrest and trial. Meera insists that the Salgaonkar family also be held accountable for their actions.

With Vijay behind bars, the story takes an unexpected twist. Murad Ali (Saurabh Shukla), a screenwriter who has been in contact with Vijay, reveals a crucial piece of information. Vijay had devised an alternate climax for his crime thriller script, a twist that would change the course of events. In this climax, the hero, knowing his original plan might fail, swaps the remains of another male of the same age and sex who had died of similar injuries to those of the villain. This clever plan hinges on befriending a gravedigger and a morgue security guard.

The revelation that the DNA tests conducted on the skeleton do not match Sam’s DNA creates a legal loophole. Vijay is released on bail due to a lack of evidence, and the police are forbidden from further investigating the Salgaonkar family.

The judge overseeing the case acknowledges that both families deserve justice but recognizes the limitations of the legal system. He privately instructs Tarun to end all investigations against Vijay and his family.

Outside the courtroom, Murad shares another revelation with Meera and Mahesh. Vijay had anonymously handed over Sam’s cremated remains to them, allowing them to find closure. Mahesh immerses Sam’s ashes, and Meera lets go of her animosity towards Vijay, acknowledging his unwavering commitment to protecting his family.
